Missing Sodus The days seem to start out a little cooler and even the kids have noticed it gets dark outside much sooner. Before we know it, school will be starting again! (I've been out buying supplies. Why can I never find a yellow spiral notebook when I need one?) My son visited with some friends from Sodus the other day - Ian Johnson and Rianna Mayou came over for our Hawaiian party. We couldn't call it a pool party, the water was cold. One of the guests taught everyone to Hula. (No, it wasn't me. I can get hurt just walking across the room.) The three kids spent hours reminiscing and talking about what everyone's been up to. Before you know it the kids will be signing up for dance classes, and everyone will be running to scout meetings, PTSA meetings and Parenting classes. (I was one of those people - forever on the go. We learned a great deal at the Scout and Brownie meetings. In the Parenting classes, I was always in awe of what the teachers knew - things I was still trying to figure out about the kids. Just when I would get used to one phase, they'd go to the next one. Where is my Parent's Manual?) When you see Patty Clark on Wednesday, September l, wish her a happy birthday. A belated birthday wish goes to Patrick Bacon. (Does he feel any older? Nine-year-olds usually don't! )
My neighbor from Sergeant Street, Al Dobbin, went to Pennsylvania to attend his grandson's wedding. I'm certain the family got Al to get up and sing a song. I bet he had a great time! (You're as young as you feel.) And speaking of weddings: Congratulations to Donna Comella on the marriage of her son. Now, that wasn't so bad, was it? (Just teasing - my time will come before I know it. For now, I just have to deal with long school supply lists and crazy pets.) The Myers Twig will have its Fine Jewelry Sale next Thursday at the hospital. The sale is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. ( A great sale to pick up some early Christmas gifts and support the Twig Association.) If you've always wanted to get your diploma, there are free GED classes, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 -noon at the First Reformed Church; and Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 -9:30 p.m. at the Sodus Primary School. For more information, call 800.527.1765 The classes are friendly and welcoming. You'll be doing a great thing for yourself. Don't forget the storytimes at the Sodus Library on Monday mornings at l0:30 - ll:30 during the summer. I'll have to check with Carol about whether there will be one during the other months.

The only way for me to be able to keep up with life in Wayne County and Sodus, is through you. Have a fun week , even if you are trying to find school supplies. Then, enjoy the rest of your vacation time with the kids. Hope to hear from you soon. Copyright © 1999 |
