Addam DeonAddam Deon, of Newark's Boy Scout Troop 122, was recently awarded his Eagle Scout rank.

The ceremony was held November 20 at the First Methodist Church. In attendance were his parents, Roger and Elaine Deon, friends, area Scouts and Scout leaders.

The Eagle Court of Honor and participants were Leaders and members of Troop 122, with the invocation by the Reverend Elton Smith and Benediction, the Reverend Leonard Humbert.

A freshman at Newark High, Addam has been a Boy Scout since 1994 and worked diligently through the ranks. He was inducted into Arrow of Light in 1996; was presented with the Prudential Spirit of Community Award in 1998; and was the Masonic Temple Scout of the Year in 1998.

For his Eagle Scout Project, Addarn coordinated an effort that used his leadership skills in acquiring materials and volunteers to clean, repair and beautify Zurich Cemetery.

Addam's father works for the Village of Newark DPW Crew. His mother, Eileen, works at Candy Apple Day Care. Addam has two sisters, Connie and Kristy, and two brothers, Bryan and Roger Jr.
