Sterling Nature Center announces events January 8: Snowshoe and Cross-country ski at Sterling Nature Center, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You are invited out to enjoy the trails and the winter landscape of the Sterling Nature Center. There is no equipment to rent as of yet, so you need to bring your own. If you have any equipment that you would like to donate to the Center it would be greatly appreciated. Donations are tax deductible. For more information call 315.947.6143. The trails are open everyday of the year from sunrise to sunset for you hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing pleasure. Donation. January 8 at 1 p.m.: Cross-country skiing. Take advantage of this great opportunity to gain experience and general instruction on the use of your cross-country skis. Brad Dates will lead this program for beginning level skiers and teach them how to make the best use of their skis. The program is open to all ages. January 15, 7 p.m.: Dark Room Workshop Join Duane Younglove to learn the basic procedures of the darkroom, from developing to printing. The printing will be done at a later date to be arranged with the instructor. After completion of this workshop, you will be certified to use the darkroom. Please bring a roll of exposed black & white film and call 947.6143 to pre-register by January 13. The fee for the program is members $10 and non-members $14 per-person. For more information call 947.6143. January 29, 1 p.m.: Winter Bookshelf Winter is a unique time of year that inspires some and causes others to retreat. Sit by the hearth with Jim Pangborn and John Weeks and share your favorite literature about winter, five-minute limit each. You are welcome to share your own writing or that of other authors.
