Apollo 13 commander signs plaque for Newark man
Blandino honored Lewis on behalf of the US Postal Service, for all his work with regard to creating and working on special cancellations of first day issues in Newark, Lyons and Farmington. Blandino is retiring from the Postal Service on December 31. Lewis also provides tremendous support to the Newark office on initiatives with the Wal*Mart Retail Program. He and members of the Finger Lakes Stamp Club have helped promote the World of Stamp Collections to the youth of Newark.

Newark Postmaster Jim Blandino presented Gil Lewis with a
commemorative plaque of the Pathfinder Stamp, personally signed by Captain James Lovell,
Commander of Apollo 13. The caption on the plaque reads: 'From Apollo to Mars the next
Frontier.' 
'Gil is an excellent example of the kind of people who
continually give of their time and talent to help make Newark the great caring community
that it is,' said Blandino.
