Habitat home for E. Williamson Habitat for Humanity will build in East Williamson on property donated by Ted and Sharon Peters. Family selection is currently underway. Families are selected based upon need for decent housing, willingness to partner with Habitat by building houses with other volunteers and ability to repay the no-interest loan written for the cost of building the home. Habitat holds the mortgage and recycles payments back into building homes in Wayne County. In the past year, three families have been able to move into their new homes in Williamson, Newark, and Clyde. This was possible through the support of the community. Because of the generosity of churches and individuals who made donations, and the many people and businesses who helped on fundraising projects, Habitat was able to purchase building materials so over 200 people could physically build the homes. Many low-income families are hoping for decent housing. Land suitable for building is always needed. Habitat plans to build two houses in 1999, and is in need of land for the second house. If you have suitable property, please contact the office at 986-9915. Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry working in partnership with families to make owning a home a reality for low income families. Habitat for Humanity is possible because of donation of time and money by people in the community. Wayne County Habitat for Humanity Copyright © 1999 |
