It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Feb. 26 - Family Night Roller Skating Party sponosored by the PTA, 7-8:30 p.m. in the elementary school gym. All kids must be accompanied by an adult.

If you are having problems with your kerosene heater, you can get clear kerosene at the Shurfine store.

FEB. 11, 1937: Four girls from Marion who are in training at Genesee Hospital received their caps last week: Eunice Van Hall, Helen Dean, Berniece Ameele and Pearl Schoonerman.

Two big old trees behind the Grange building have been cut down.

Gen Adriaansen is recuperating at home following knee-replacement surgery.

The United Church (and friends of First Reformed Church) is planning a chicken and biscuit dinner with homemade pies. The date is March 1 from 5-7 p.m. Dinner will be served in the Educational Building at the United Church. Take-outs available.

On Feb. 27 and 28, the Youth Group at the United Church will join 150 youths from area churches in a 30-Hour Famine at Roberts Wesleyan College. As a mission project wile participating in the event, kids will make Ugly Quilts from recycled fabrics. These will be filled with toiletry items and distributed free to people living "in the streets." Needed from you are old bedspreads, towels, drapes, mattress pads, sweatshirs. Leave them at the United Church or call Barb Wilson at 926-4121 or Linda DePoint at 597-6745.

The Blanket Fund exceeded its goal. More than 40 families will receive gifts of warmth and comfort.

Jeanette Losey will host the next Women's Circle Luncheon at her home. Women of the United Church are invited.

Stan and Isabelle Bushart visited in Medina, enjoying lunch with Ken Blackmer and Jessica Leno.

Nicole Peterson, daughter of Paul and Cynthia, is on the Academic Honors Dean's List at Hilbert College with a 3.8 average. She is a '98 Marion grad and is majoring in accounting.
