Happenings BASKETBALL!! The boys basketball team defeated Alexander 80-58 on Tuesday. Marion is the number 6 seed. Senior Brian Roegiers scored his 1000th point of his career and had 25 points during the game. The Knights are 13-8. Merle Salisbury had 16, Steve Schutt 15, Justin Hutt 13, Al Sargent 9. Roegiers had two 3-pointers and Schutt scored one. The 3th and 6th grade classes at the United Church thanks everyone for their generous support in the campaign to raise funds for Kristen Caves. With your help, they collected $105, this money will be donated to her family as they struggle with expenses incurred with Kristen's fight with cancer. On February 14, Melissa Wilson, at the United Church, shared her motivation for wanting to participate in a Christian work project this summer. Proceeds from the Chicken and Biscuit Dinner being held on March 1, will go towards funding this work camp project for Melissa and others. Please plan to attend the dinner, invite others, or take a carry-out dinner to someone in need. USA Weekend Magazine called Barb Wilson last Wednesday to say that the Youth Group at the United Church is being considered for a national award for their participation in "Make A Difference Day" last October. The group collected over 75 bicycles and took them to Asbury First Methodist Church in Rochester to be repaired and made available to homeless. Si VerPlank is home following cataract surgery. Penny Miller spent her winter break with her daughter Gene and Pamela and grandchildren, Cody and Alyssa of Andrew's Air Force Base. In fact, she was there to help Cody celebrate his 5th birthday. They went sightseeing in Washington touring the White House, Pentagon and the Post Office Musuem. They stopped at other outstanding monuments, and saw the unfinished, overwhelming, Korean War Monument. At the FDR Complex Park they were surprised to see two cherry trees in blossom and the kids spotted an albino squirrel among the trees. While at Baltimore Inner Harbor they visited the National Aquarium and were among those witnessing President and Hillary Clinton arriving out on the tarmac. Clarence Bushart has recently undergone successful cataract surgery. On March 1 at 6:30 p.m., there will be an informational eighth grade Planning Night held in the High School cafteria.
