designs WCED logo

Ben Yonda, a junior at Newark High School, was presented with a $100 check and a plaque for his creative work in designing a new logo for the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation.

Jim Armstrong is shown with Yonda. Armstrong, from Wayne County Economic Development Corporation, came to school to deliver Ben's prize. Armstrong worked with Sherry Williams, Newark Central School Work Experience Coordinator, to offer the contest to Newark High School. Students from Tom Jagger's Advertising and Design class were given the opportunity to enter the contest.

The guidelines for developing the logo was to present an image of Wayne County with an idea of the "Best of Both Worlds." The logo needed to display a quality life where people can enjoy living in a rural community and have the advantages of being near a city.

The Wayne County Development Corporation's purpose is to recruit businesses from outside Wayne County to either relocate or expand their business here.
