Congratulations to the Model UN team for doing a good job at the Central NY Model United Nations at Syracuse. Stephanie Richards and Brian Lewis won an award for representing a variety of nations. Jeff Lent won honorable mention for outstanding delegate in the General Assembly.

Family Night Roller Skating is this evening at the elementary school, 7-8:30 p.m. Adults must accompany all children.

JANUARY 28, 1937: A special school meeting will be held to vote on the third part of a building planned four years ago. The improvements would include enlarging the stage and gymnasium, providing a cafeteria, manual training and agricultural rooms, and other needed things.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national effort encouraging folks to give one dollar each and a non-perishable food item. They will do this on Sunday at the United Church. Youths will collect money and canned goods following worship; they will bring them to a Tailgate Party in the parking lot from 4-6 p.m. Other youths from the Wayne Area Youth Program will join them for hot dogs and snacks.

Vivian Vorhees hosted the January Afternoon Circle at the United Church on Jan. 12.

Applications will be available soon for the pageant for Wayne County Fair Queen and Princess. For more details call Gerry at 926-4926.

Happy birthday to Elizabeth Adriaansen who turns 91 on January 23. She resides at the County Nursing Home, Route 31, Lyons 14489.

An event of drama, live music and unlimited coffee is offered this evening, 8-11:30, at Shoeshine Johnny's Student Coffee House in Sodus. Cover donation is $4.

Youth Night at the Second Reformed Church is Jan. 23, 7:30-10:30. Invite your friends for music, games, food, volleyball, basketball and videos.

Our son Jim is recuperating at his home following a hospital stay.

The County Fair Advisory Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Palmyra Community Center on Stafford St. To get involved with the Fair, call Gerry at 926-4926.

Jo Adriaansen's brothers and sisters-in-law surprised her on Jan. 10 for her 90th birthday. They had ice cream and cake at the DeMay Living Center. Attending were Earl and Mag Huisman, Ed and Doris Krocke, Linda, Peter and Jean Krocke, Dorothy Hendricks and friend Shirley, from the DeMay Center.

Sports

The wrestling team placed fourth at the Newark Tournament. Winning were Andy Hartnagel; placing second were Jason Betts, Jamie Pentland, Dave Schneider; John Compton won a third place. The wrestlers went to Lyons on Jan. 12 and won 39-36, after trailing 30-0. Getting pins were Hartnagel, Zach Freeman, Kevin Venable and Ian Van Norman. Also winning were Pentland, Matt Alampi and Scnneider.

Boys varsity hoops: Marion defeated Aquinas 76-72, led by Steve Schutt in scoring. Brian Roegiers had 10 steals and Justin Hutt had 10 rebounds.

Girls varsity: Marion defeated Sodus 56-47. Mary Lanzone made a school-record six 3-pointers and scored 20 points. Lanzone broke Pam Duke's record of five 3-pointers. Shannon Gaston scored 17 points.

JV girls defeated Sodus 31-19. Jen Devlin scored 10 points and Wendy Brusso had 10 rebs.
