Chocolate Festival in Newark

All are invited to the Newark Public Library's 8th annual Chocolate Festival on Tuesday, February 9.

The day's highlight will be the sampling of 20 or so chocolate creations donated by library friends - Karen Christmann's "Death by Chocolate" will be there, as will Nadine Brill's "Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake" and Barb Viola's truffles.

Most samples will be 50 cents each; samples of the more complicated creations will be $1 each. Sampling will take place from 2-4 p.m. and from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Take-out plates will be available, and discounts will be offered from 8:15 until 8:30 p.m. on any items still remaining. All proceeds benefit the library.

Other contributors will be Shirley Ford, Chris Stephens, Joan Morrissey, Ruth Phillips, Claudia Hann, Liz Scharett, Margaret Russell, Susie Earl, Paul Bailey, Mary Saracino, Vicki Case, Diane Fagner, Vicki Haramoto, Burnham's Canalside Restaurant, Perkins Restaurant, Newark Country Club, Breen's IGA, Dunkin' Donuts, and Wegmans.

Hot chocolate, chocolate donut holes, and Hershey's kisses will be available at no cost throughout the day. All library patrons can participate, for a small charge, in a drawing for a gigantic basket filled with all sorts of chocolate goodies. The library's collection of books about chocolate will also be available for perusal and for check out.

The library is located at 121 High Street in Newark.
