Service Crosses to be awarded next week

Twenty-five veterans from Wayne County will receive New York state's highest military honor on Thursday, February 4, at 7 p.m. in the Supervisor's Chamber of the Wayne County Court House.

Assemblyman Bob Oaks and State Senator Mike Nozzolio will present the Conspicuous Service Cross to each of the qualifying veterans.

The following veterans will be honored: William Gavitt, Donald Hardy, William Husner, Roy Husner, Martin Keymel, Martin Luther, Thomas Briggs, Nicholas Budinock, Timothy Calnon, Orlo Delass, Patsy Dileo, William Ermolovich, Dean Sheffield, Nicholas Varalli, Thomas Wilson, Giles Wiltsie, Donald Young, Nicholas Stirpe, Elmer Minwell, Raymond Pearl, Peter Salerno, Louis Samborski, Doyle Schweder, Roger Gill and Merrill Hutchinson.

Wayne County Director of Veterans' Services, Tom Ferguson, will assist in the ceremony. In addition, families and friends of the honorees will be joined by various town and county officials in honoring the award recipients. The public is invited to attend.
