Missing Sodus...
By Melissa White

Since we moved from Sodus to Greece, we've had to make many adjustments. It was difficult to say goodbye to the many nice people in the Sodus area. Mrs. Southwick threw a goodbye party for my daughter, Rachel, and Mr. Bastian held a goodbye pizza party for son, Michael.

I miss my first grade Faith Formation class at the Church of the Epiphany. (I did see the Church Christmas ornament for sale in the Church store. It was beautiful.)

We've been back to visit several times:

- To see the Primary School's Prime Time Turkey Farm;

ferret- To visit Mrs. Southwick's class to see the impressive flying geese;

- A trip to Country Pets and More (Route 104, Sodus);

- To drop Christmas cookies on the porches of Lill Burkholder and Al Dobbin. (I saw Al in several town newspapers singing for the holidays and making merry. You go, Al!)

Corner Market- And a stop at The Corner Market (Pound Rd. & Rt. 104, Williamson) Were those Christmas lights on the banana tree?

Before we left Sodus, we got a new Boxer puppy. Sarah Marie loves Sodus Point. I think she sees it as a large drink of water. We'll keep you posted on her progress.Sarah Marie

Congratulations to all who worked so hard to save Camp Beechwood, including Ann Hudson, Craig Wollesen and Carl Fitzsimmons. Community members Rhonda Hall, George Knowlton and Ed Krenzer will work with the NYS Parks people to continue the project.

Carl "Butch" Fitzsimmons tells me that things are going well and they have a new name for the project: "Beechwood Group Inc." They are trying to get their Incorporation and a filling out a 1023 form to get their Not-For-Profit Status. They've been working really hard on this, and it'll be well worth it.

Camp BeechwoodAnd speaking of Girl Scouts, Sodus Troops and Churches came up with several creative ideas to make the season nice for others. Special festivities, including Christmas Dinner, were held at the Church of the Epiphany Parish Center.

We miss Brownie Troop 435. Eileen Hooper's group has a warm, welcome feeling that makes you look forward to meetings. Eileen is planning a field trip this month to the Rochester Museum & Science Center to learn about Links to the Past.

Eileen's mom has been up from Florida visiting. Word has it she's looking forward to going back to her warm weather and palm trees. Who can blame her? Last year about this time she was teaching the Brownie Troop a few dance steps she's learned. Don't worry though, Betty will back North in the spring with the geese and robins.

backyardAlthough we miss everyone, it is nice to have woods in the back yard. We often see deer looking at us from the yard. But the beautiful view is miles from you, so I hope you stay in touch. Keep me up to date on your events, trips, stories and other "goings on."

Just e-mail me: mommygoodcookie@juno.com

I'll be looking forward to hearing from you!
