$20,000 available in Arts program

Wayne County Council for the Arts is pleased to announce that the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) has awarded their local 1999 Decentralization Re-grant Program $20,000. The funds will be redistributed to non-profit organizations throughout Wayne County who plan Cultural programs for their communities in the year 2000.

'In this age of arts programming cut backs, we are honored that NYSCA has once again entrusted Wayne County Council for the Arts such a large sum to regrant,' said Wayne County's Decentralization Coordinator Heidi Lux Santelli. 'It is quite likely that your life has been touched by Decentralization. If you enjoyed the Flamenco Dancers presented by Kelley School this winter, or attended a concert at the Sodus Light House this summer, your life has been enriched by Decentralization. And this only begins to touch on the 19 different Decentralization programs funded locally this year.'

All Wayne County not-for-profit organizations (including churches, PTAs, museums, historical societies, recreation departments, libraries, etc.), as well as local governments (towns and villages) may apply for Decentralization funding to supplement proposed projects. The proposal must have some aspect of community enrichment and involvement, such as a public concert, performance, exhibit, or workshop. Individual artists are also eligible for project funding under the auspices of a sponsoring not-for-profit agency. Programs must take place in Wayne County, between January 1 and December 31, 2000. Funding requests of up to $5,000 may be submitted.

Attendance by a representative of your non-profit organization is required at one of the following Decentralization Grant Seminars in order to apply for 2000 Decentralization funding. Applications will only be available at these workshops, which last one hour.
