At Fair Haven Park

On Sat., June 5, at 9 a.m., at the Fair Haven Beach State Park, there will be a State Park Heritage Day. It will feature activities centered around the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), who developed the park in the 1930s. There will be nature walks, a CCC slide show, a CCC veterans reunion with exhibits and memorabilia, a "Birds of Prey Night and Day" program with a live red-tailed hawk, a band concert, CCC songs, and park history tours.

State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro will begin the day with a dedication of the new park visitor center and CCC mini-museum and a monument honoring the CCC Camp SP36, which housed young men doing conservation and park development work in the state park from 1934 until 1942. Heritage Day will also honor the 75th anniversary of the Finger Lakes State Park Region and the Cayuga County bicentennial.

Activities are free and the park entrance fees will not be charged. For more information, call the park at 947-5205.
