Missing Sodus

Wasn't the holiday weekend great? We got so busy with buying plants for the garden and planting that we completely forgot about a hair appointment on Saturday. (Usually we were in the Memorial Day parades but not this year. We didn't even see one.)

We've been watching the cute little brown rabbits hopping around the yard. This morning I found they had breakfast in my garden. (Not only did they bite off the blossoms, but left a little calling card in the grass close beside it.) I planted some marigolds and hung lots of Ivory soap. Do you know of any other things to keep the bunnies away from the flowers? The beautician was going to give me a bag of hair but I thought it would seem strange to the neighbors. (They really aren't sure of me yet as it is.) Probably if Al Dobbin had seen me putting hair in the garden he would have wondered, too.

Speaking of beauticians, I believe Eileen Hooper and family are having a garage sale this weekend. They will be moving soon. (I know how that is - first you want to keep everything, then you get too tired to pack anymore and would give it all away.) Good luck, Eileen.

The Genesee Valley Boxer Rescue I mentioned a few weeks ago will be at the PetCo grand opening this weekend. They will be having a raffle, selling knickknacks, etc. Anita told me that at least one of the "currently available" Boxers will be in attendance. PetCo is in Irondequoit at the Corner of Culver and Ridge Rd. (in the Plaza across from Wegmans). They will be there from 11 to 3 each day. If you have any questions, or would like more information, e-mail

Soon it will be time to register for the Summer Reading Programs at the Libraries. It sounds like a lot of fun events are being planned.

This week, we completely forgot about Sarah's training class because of the holiday. (I have enough trouble trying to keep up with the days and events of the week when the week is average.)

Remember to send me any information you'd like shared - things happening at the schools, field trips your children went on and birthdays, anniversaries or other dates you'd like to share.

Have fun gardening. If you have any questions, ask the people at the greenhouses. They want you to enjoy your flowers and, after all, they are the ones that got them started. Have a nice weekend.
