NWCH Golf tourney results

The Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Foundation held its golf tournament on June 14. This year's tournament grossed $33,145.

A four-person scramble format was played at Newark Country Club with 63 golfers in attendance.

The first place winners were Frank Zappia, Jim Zappia, Ernie Evangelist and Jim Tiberio;

second place winners were Glenn Stell, Gary Chittenden, Richard Brown and John Joyce;

and third place winners were Randy Mitchell, Robert Sherman, Gil Mitchell, and Andy Oaks.

Winners of the Closest to the Pin competition were Ernie Evangelist and Agnes Gilbert; winners of the Longest Drive were John Graziose and Marg Embrey.

A four-person best ball format was played at Wayne Hills Country Club with 106 golfers in attendance. The first place winners were Michael Bums, Ken Hannon, Dave Bums and Michael Gilevski;

second place went to Terry Cotton, Todd Mueller, Mark Peartree and Frank Garcia;

and third place winners were Rick Familo, Bob Weichbrodt, Warren Weichbrodt and Ed Leisenring.

Winners of the Closest to Pin competition were Greg Slezak and Nancy Lewis; winners of the Longest Drive were Chris Eppel and Marianne Borch.

Rick Familo of Concord Ford Lincoln/Mercury, Inc. of Newark, sponsored the hole-in-one contest and Bob Weichbrodt of R.E. Weichbrodt, Inc. of Lyons donated tee gifts for each golfer.

A social hour and a buffet dinner were held at the Newark Country Club after the tournament. Mike Webb of All-Around Travel, and American Airlines, Tournament Sponsors, donated two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean, which were won by Eric Barnard of Lakeville.

The Newark Country Club donated a one-year membership which was won by Stu Blodgett of Newark.
