Rose Show Sunday in Newark

On June 27, the Rose Society of the Finger Lakes will have its Rose Show at Wayne County's Cornell Cooperative Extension headquarters. This is located at the junction of Route 88 North and Hydesville Road.

The public is invited from 1-4 p.m. Free admission.

The entries are judged at 10:30 by American Rose Society judges from Elmira, Rochester and Syracuse, using ARS rules.

There are 27 different classes including hybrid teas, mini roses, floribundas, climbers, old garden roses introduced before 1867, and hodge podge. Ribbons or cups are awarded in each class.

Everyone interested in growing roses is welcome at the meetings and to enter the June 27 show. Take your entries on Sunday morning from 7 until 10:15. Containers and official entry tags are provided.

The Rose Society of the Finger Lakes was founded 10 years ago. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at the Cooperative Extension facility. It is affiliated with the American Rose Society.

Officers are Co-Presidents Audrey Ferris (Sodus) and Allyn Bedette (Newark); VP and Show Chairman William Scheetz (Newark); Secretary Rosalie Gabbert (Macedon); Treasurer Liz Samsell (Rochester); Newsletter Editor Ruth Pearles (Farmington); Consulting Rosarians are Audrey Ferris and Ruth Pearles.
