Arcadia Town Board notes
By John Zornow

Supervisor Dominic Bartucca and all Town Council members were present for Tuesday's Town Board meeting.

Phil Marvin Sr. asked what had been done to upgrade zoning in the Marbletown area. Bartucca indicated that the Planning board had been addressing the issue. Councilman Gary Grant said the previous efforts to toughen Zoning in that area had met with stiff opposition due to fear of higher taxes. Marvin urged the board to schedule meetings again in the future, and suggested that perhaps residents are now better informed on the issues.

Residents of the Hartnagel Road asked for a reduced speed limit in that area, as well as signs indicating that children are at play. Bartucca reminded the residents that speed limits are set by the state, but Highway Supt. David Harder told the Hartnagel Rd. residents that children at play signs would be possible. The board voted unanimously to authorize Harder to install the signs.

Two new volunteer firemen were approved by the board. Ernie Mori was welcomed to the Marbletown Fire Dept. and Cristie Frey was announced as a new member of the Fairville Fire Dept.

The Marbletown Fire Dept. was given an advance of their yearly contract in the amount of $10,000. This was requested so that the fire hall may hook up to the water line recently installed to Marbletown. Councilman Michael DeJohn complimented all involved in the installation of the water line. He said this is the type of thing that cooperation between the town and village can accomplish.

New business: Donald Fletcher was referred to the Planning Board in regards to his plan to add new storage units to an existing facility on Welcher Rd. Rodney Finewood, of Rt. 31 East, was also referred to the Planning Board, which meets on March 15. Finewood said that he has been approved as a dealer/retailer for Sears, and wants to construct a 60 x 120 building on Rt. 31 East, near his furniture business.

The board unanimously approved the amount of $2500 towards a feasibility study by the Genesee Regional Transportation Authority. Bartucca indicated that the county, village of Newark, Town of Phelps and Village of Phelps have also contributed equal or larger amounts to the study.

Arcadia will contribute $7500 towards a new vehicle for Animal Control Officer Bob Howard, who works for the Town and Village.
