Missing Sodus

catnurse.jpg (17298 bytes)Well, the weather doesn't seem to be any better, and cabin fever does seem to be getting worse. Won't it be nice to send the kids off to school with a light coat? It's so much easier to walk when you don't have all that stuff to wear!

(Editor's Note: The Cabin Fever must be bad indeed for Melissa to ask this doctor and nurse for treatment!)

Did you remember to sign up for storytime at the Williamson Library? It began February 24 and will run through March 31. I haven't been to one yet that I didn't enjoy.

Speaking of the library - congratulations to Jennie Cantwell and her husband Jason who had a baby boy, Adam Joel, on February 20. Jennie works downstairs in the Children's Area of the library.

On March 17, Friends of the Library will have a Sandwiched In Program. Richard O'Conner, a Civil War enthusiast, will share his stories and memorabilia of the war his great-great-grandfather fought in. The Sandwiched In Programs are held from noon to 1 p.m. in the program room on the lower level of the library (off the children's area). Delicious lunches are served, but you must register if you'd like to join them for lunch. Please call 589-2048 by Monday night and the cost will be $2.

caesar.jpg (15793 bytes)(Editor's Note: Everybody in Melissa's house reads - even Caesar and Sarah! But what's Caesar doing with that other paper?)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! And a Happy March Birthday to Melanie Pike as well.

The Church of Epiphany has students preparing for their First Communion and the RCIA is working hard as well. The children always look so nice on that day. (Parents always feel their children's nerves don't they? Gosh! How do you get through the wedding day?)

The Church of the Epiphany is undergoing plans for expansion. The population of the congregation has grown at a rate of 2 percent a year (which is great, but for seating, the expansion is a necessity.) There will be a meeting of the Committee on Monday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. Committee members will see a video of other worship spaces, explore a plan and look for a date to tour renovated spaces and new Churches. Father Dave says, "Your input is welcome!"

This sounds like a large and exciting venture for the Church and it's members. Thank you, Father Dave - please keep us posted on your progress.

The Girl Scouts Lock-In is soon. A word of advice to survive (I mean enjoy) the lock-in: Take a nap during the day. Last year, each group spent about an hour in different rooms. They had their hair done, faces painted, nails done. They watched movies, danced, played games and ate a lot. Sleeping isn't included on the list of things to do, and I saw a lot of tired children the next morning. (So that's how I look after a night of being up with a sick child? Hmmmm.) I also found that a wagon is a good thing to have if you have children in Scouts. You end up dragging a LOT of things around and making many trips otherwise.

bowl.jpg (10258 bytes)Spring is coming! What do you do to snap out of cabin fever? Write and let me know. Baking sounds like a good idea. How about sharing your favorite lemon cookie recipe?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Have a nice week and enjoy any warm days we may get during it.
