Swimmer Nichols is 4th in state

Rick Nichols, a junior at the Newark High, swam to a 4th place finish in the 200 Freestyle in East Meadow, Long Island at the New York State Swim Championships.

His time of 144.59 was only .09 of a second off his record-setting performance at Sectionals.

In the 100 freestyle, his goggles came loose at the start and he never regained his form. He qualified for the consolation finals which he won in a time of :47.24, the fourth fastest time in the state.

Nichols will swim at the Junior National Meet in Buffalo, March 17-20. He will represent the Newark Dragons Swim Club as their first-ever national meet participant.

Congratulations and Good Luck, Rick!
