nab Newark seats

Newcomer Kurt Werts has won a seat on the Newark Village Board, and incumbent John Palermo has kept his seat.

Vying for two Trustee seats for four-year terms were Republicans Werts and incumbent Tony Virts, and Democrats Jim Colacino and Palermo. Colacino also ran on the Building A Better Community party line.

Werts, 56, is chairman of the Social Studies Dept. in the Sodus School District. A life-long Newark resident, Werts lives on West Ave. with wife, Linda. He has been a member of the Newark Planning Board since 1987, appointed by then-Mayor James Praino.
