Missing Sodus

The birds are singing, the daylight lasts longer, you even can go to school and work without having the porch light on. Everything indicates that spring is definitely here!

Easter eggsI decided to make the place look more festive for Easter. How do people keep the plastic eggs on their trees and bushes? I hung mine up with string wrapped around the inside of the egg then snapped it back together. I've found eggs under the bushes, and even had to chase one down the sidewalk. (I'm not sure but I think Easter egg hunts are more fun if there is something inside the egg.) I have visions of someone walking past the house and getting bopped with a plastic Easter egg.

Speaking of Easter, did your children and grandchildren enter the coloring contest? The pictures are really cute and there are great chocolaty prizes!

Carol Garland the Sodus Librarian has come back from her trip to Florida. We did notice you brought back some sunshine for us, Carol, but where are the warmer temps? It's difficult to carry all the extras, we realize. (She probably thought when she came back it would be Spring.)

Last year at this time, the Sodus fifth graders were making plans for the April trip to Howe Caverns. This is one of the field trips kids can plan on years in advance because every fifth grade goes. My Howe Cavernsdaughter watched as my son's class went knowing she would be going soon. (Now that we've moved...oh well.) The students leave early in the morning with a change of clothes, sleeping bags and pillows, as well as some spending cash. They all visit Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Clark Sports Center, the Iroquois Museum, and the big stop to see the Caverns. Is the trip still planned for the beginning of April this year? If your child or grandchild is in the fifth grade, I'm sure they've told you all about it! They have a great time.

A happy March Birthday to Brian Hooper who is going to be 12 today. Happy Birthday, Brian!

The Church of Epiphany teens are having fund raisers for a trip in November of this year. Thirteen teens and three adults are saving money to go on a trip to the National Youth Convention in St. Louis. This convention is held every two years and the kids are really looking forward to attending. The teens just finished the plant and candy sales, and they plan on having many more fund raisers Howe Cavernsduring the summer. Good luck to all.

The Church of Epiphany Faith Formation classes are almost finished, they will end just before Easter Sunday, the last class will be at the end of this month. Those receiving the Sacrament of First Communion will continue to study their books at home with their families.

Don't forget storytime at the Williamson Library on Wednesdays from 10:30-11 a.m.

Thanks to everyone who has kept me informed about the happenings in Sodus. I'm looking forward to hearing from more of you about the special events in your lives. Keep in touch - we really are Missing Sodus! Write me at
