Operation Graduation planning
The chairpeople are Vicky and Paul Powell, Sharon and Howard Parkison, Debbie and Gregg Sloane, Sheri and Bill Whyte. Eileen Healy is the faculty class advisor. Private citizens and business owners team up to supply funds and prizes for the overnight event, at the high school, immediately after the commencement ceremony ends. The school is secured, events are chaperoned, and the occasion is free of drugs, alcohol and accidents. Graduation is June 25. Operation Graduation ends at 6 a.m. Saturday with a farewell breakfast. Students and parents sign a contract; each student promises not to use drugs or alcohol, and student promises to follow the rules. Anyone wishing to donate a door prize, gift certificate or money may send it to NHS Class of '99, c/o Eileen Healy, NHS 625 Peirson Ave., Newark 145134. The committee will meet again on Wednesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. By the way, the entertainment committee is looking for Hawaiian shirts! Now is the time to donate yours to Operation Graduation, for their "Tropical Paradise" evening of fun.
