Alas...another tree is gone from Buffalo Street.

Meredith Sorensen's second-grade class visited the Museum on May 6. Lots of good questions!

Happy 103rd Birthday wishes to Jennie Hermanet who presently resides at the DeMay Living Center.

Sharon Cornwell has returned home to recuperate.

Carl Taylor is home following bypass surgery.

Sara and Heather Milliman shared a Mother's Day testimony at the morning worship service at the Second Reformed Church on May 9.

Maryellen's Restaurant has a new Friday evening menu. We tried the sausage-topped mushrooms and the French onion soup.

The next meeing of the Marion Historic Assn. will be at the museum on Monday, May 17 at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Art and Shirley Stone are back home after spending time in Florida.

The Williamson Apple Blossom Festival is this week. May 14 is the street dance, fireworks, carnival. May 15 is the parade, street dance, carnival; on Sunday, enjoy a craft show and family entertainment.

Fran and Marge DeWind have returned to their home on Warner Road after spending the winter in Bradenton, Florida.

Birth announced: Congratulations to Randy and Wendy (Verbridge) Ocque on the April 27 birth of Elizabeth Grace. She was born at Via Health Newark, weighing 5 lbs. 14 oz. Grandparents are Fred and Ann VanCassele of Marion, and Arnold Verbridge of Avon.

There will be a Family Style Roast Beef Supper at the Marion American Legion Home on May 14. If you haven't been lately you are missing a lovely meal. And there will be a Chicken BBQ at the Masonic Temple on Saturday, May 15th. Sounds like an easy weekend to me.

THANKS! go to Cindy Dey for the storage units donated to the Marion Museum. These will be used to house our uniforms and costumes that have been donated by interested folks.

The Wayne County Fair Advisory Board is sponsoring a bake sale on May 22nd at the Newark Wal-Mart on Route 31. The sale begins at 9 am and will go until all is sold. Proceeds will go to the Wayne County 4-H Scholarship Fund.

Grange Scholarship Fund. There will be clowns and last year's Wayne County's Fair. Champion pie baker will be contributing some of his winners from last year. Other blue ribbon winners will also be contributing to this bake sale.

Gerry Blankenberg, Jack Dekdebrun and Gerry's sister, Eva and Clint VanGelder have returned from a vacation which included three days in the Grand Bahamas. On returning home they spent two days at Charleston, South Carolina with family members and 3 days at Ashville touring the 8,000-acre Biltmore Estate with its beautiful gardens and lovely homes that were built in the early 1900's.

Since I was out of town I can only report on what I heard about the Boy Scout Ham and Scalloped Potato dinner served at Maryellen's. "It was delicious and plentiful and the monies will be used for campouts, etc."

May 17, 1923: A stereoptican lecture "See America First" by Charles E. Buck of Geneva will be held in the Marion Baptist Church Wednesday under the auspices of the Boy Scouts.

The choir at the United Church will join other Baptist Church choirs for a Spring Music Festival at the Macedon First Baptist Church on May 16 at 7 p.m. The theme will be "Worship God With Music." Fellowship, coffee and dessert will follow the concert.

May 20 - Spring Choral Concert 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

Grace Frank is recovering at her home from recent surgery.

If you love lilacs you might journey to Clyde. Early May through June. Grape Hill Farm on Deveraux Road.

The next meeting of the Women's Guild at the United Church will be May 18 at the home of Svea Dahlberg who will present the program. All women are welcome. Just a sandwich and meet at noon. Their annual picnic will be held on June 15 at 6:15 p.m.

There was no meeting of Richards Chapter on May 5th so members could attend the Grand Matron's Official Visit to Draper Chapter, Wolcott.

The Richards Chapter OES will meet May 19th, opening in Ample Form. The theme will be "Japanese Tea" and officers are asked to wear white blouses in lieu of White Kimonos. Hostesess are Cindy Armarando, Marge Smith and Suzanne Loucks. The Teacup Auction will be held at the May 19 meeting. Bring an item to be auctioned. At the June 2 meeting, Worthy Matron Debbie Halstead will honor Past Matrons and Past Patrons. The theme will be High Tea.
