Happenings A United Church teacher appreciation dinner was held on May 15 at Cinelli's Country House Restaurant in Sodus. They have many dedicated and talented leaders. Missed next year will be Leslie Bush, Melissa Wilson and Amy Fisher, who will graduate and attend college. Ontario Summerfest is May 22 and 23; chicken BBQ, parade and fireworks. May 21, 1913: The graduating class of Marion High School consists of five members. They are Helen Scutt, Mabel Blankenburg, Sybil Garlock, Jessie Bushart and William Levis. Bill and Barb DeWandel took a bus trip to Holland, Michigan. They enjoyed the Kloppen Dancers and Parade of Bands, as well as the beautiful tulips and special shows. Weather was beautiful. Mark Wyman, Legion Memorial Post Adjutant and parade marshal, announces the traditional Memorial Day Parade and Service. Line-up for the 5 p.m. parade will be at 4:30 with step-off from the firemen's field. Services will be held after the parade at the Soldier's Monument at the cemetery. Guest speaker will be Eugene Woodard, U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran and present Commander of the Palmyra American Legion Post #120. "Happiness is an inside job." May 26 (Weds.) is the date for Arts Alive! Art show at 6:30 and grades 5-6 chorus concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday May 28 is the elementary school Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery at 1:20 p.m. The Wayne County Fair Advisory Board is sponsoring a bake sale on May 22 at Newark Wal-Mart on Route 31. The sale starts at 9 a.m. and goes until all is sold. Proceeds will go to the 4-H scholarship and Susan Freestone Junior Grange Scholarship Fund. There will be clowns and last year's county fair champion pie baker will contribute some of his winners from 1998. Other Blue Ribbon winners will contribute to this bake sale. Copyright © 1999 |
