$830,949 pledged to United Way

Linda Shaffer, Wayne County clerk and chair of the 1999 United Way of Wayne County/Red Cross Campaign said that $830,949 has been raised for health and human service providers in Wayne County.

The announcement was made at the United Way of Wayne County's Campaign Final, held at the Quality Inn.

"This year's campaign was a success thanks to the dedication and generosity of a number of organizations, businesses, and individuals," said Shaffer. "Their commitment to improving our community is certainly something we can all be proud of."

Many companies and organizations were recognized for their continued support of the United Way. The Award of Excellence, United Way's most prestigious award, was given to Parker Hannifin in Lyons.
