Lyons Heritage Society to look at pocket watches

Lyons Heritage Society will meet Monday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hotchkiss Peppermint building on Water Street, Lyons. A business meeting will be followed by a program on pocket watches given by Richard Fry of Williamson. A collector, repairer and dealer of pocket watches, Fry uses a live video camera to show and describe details on the watches.

Fry learned to repair watches about thirty years ago. He began to seriously collect pocket watches ten years ago and has several hundred in his collection. The oldest pocket watch is circa 1765 and the newest was made in the late 1930's or early 1940's. Fry is an active member of the national, regional and local organizations of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Last year he spent six weeks at the National headquarters and museum located in Columbus, PA at a watch repair school.

Fry will identify and appraise any watches brought to the meeting. The public is invited.
