Doctor named director of ambulatory surgery

To strengthen outpatient services at Myers Hospital in Sodus, ViaHealth of Wayne announced the appointment of Dr. Frederick Kaempffe as the director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

The organization also announced plans to grow ambulatory surgery services under Kaempffe's leadership.

Dr. Kaempffe, an orthopaedic surgeon who is a native of Palmyra, has been providing services at Myers since 1991. As the director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center, he will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the service, coordinating the growth of the center and managing the service.

Kaempffe said that Myers has always had a strong surgical service and his goal is to build upon that strength. He is currently working on developing the staff who have been responsible for the program's past success. He is also working to re-introduce some surgical services at Myers and make the unit more attractive to new service providers such as podiatry and general surgery.
