The new owners of Farrell's Service Station on West Union St., Newark are Matt and Marcia Kouwe. They are pictured with George Farrell (John Zornow photo). The business was started by George Farrell is September 1940 and will remain Newark's only locally owned, family-operated, full- and self-service station. Farrell will continue to own the building, and he will still be there, helping customers as before, when he is not busy with Newark Rotary Club, church or other community activities. The Kouwes recently purchased the business from Mike Rynearson, who has taken a position with an auto supply firm. Copyright © 1999 |
