Books we liked...

Reading books is fun all times of the year, but we find it especially fun during the Holidays. It's exciting when you go to the library or get book orders from school. (I can't wait to get into the kids' backpacks to see. They are older now, and love to tease, so, slowly, they will take out one book at a time and taunt me.) We have a few Christmas and winter stories to share with you, we hope you will enjoy them as much as we have.

Geraldines Big Snow by Holly Keller. Kids love to see snow and can't wait for it to come. Geraldine (even though she is a little pig) is no different. In fact shes so anxious about it snowing that she almost drives everyone around her crazy asking when it will come. This is a cute book. You might find the character reminds you of a little person you know.

The Bear Santa Claus Forgot by Diana Kimpton. A funny story about a small teddy bear who falls out of Santa's sleigh and the adventures he has trying to get to a child's house for Christmas. He knows the procedure - going down the chimney, getting wrapped up (it's tough to wrap yourself) and waiting for the big day.

Wake Up Santa Claus! by Marcus Pfister. Have you ever had a dream but can't tell if it was real? Santa had a doozy! He thought he had overslept and was late for Christmas. Dream? That's a nightmare! A more involved text, this is a nice one to cuddle up on the couch with and read together.

Lucy and Tom's Christmas by Shirley Hughes. It's always fun reading about how other families are getting ready for Christmas. Tom and Lucy are two little people who are busy indeed.

The Night Before Christmas by Jan Brett. The favorite Christmas Eve bedtime story now has a Jan Brett flavor. The illustrations are wonderful as they always are. The elves, reindeer and Santa come alive on the pages. It's nice to see an old favorite with a different look.

Christmas Stories and Poems Illustrated by Lisa McCue. This book is filled with different stories and poems of the season. The stories are a little involved, but the illustrations are adorable. It's not often you see a porcupine in overalls or a cat in an apron. How about a bear in boots and a sweater? A great book, filled with a variety of things to choose from.
