It's time to plan your visit to the Haunted Heyrides! There is a need for white gloves, drop them off or call me.

Thanks! To those who attended the Pig Roast at the United Church. Proceeds from this delicious dinner will go to help the needy.

Hank and Pearl Ververs invited 15 friends in for ice cream and cake as a surprise to George Goldsmith on the occasion of the celebration of his 90th birthday.

Virginia Lupold has scheduled an interesting bus trip for Tuesday, October 12. It is called, A Fall Foliage Mystery Trip. The tour begins at 8 a.m. and will return to Palmyra at 6:30 p.m. A lunch buffet and all admissions will be covered. Call Virginia at 597.4372 and get in on this fun trip.

Check October 24 on your calendar. On that Sunday afternoon, Marion Boy Scout Troop #130 will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner at Maryellen's Restaurant downtown.

Dora Mullin is recuperating at home following surgery at the Rochester General.

THANKS! to Judy Schoonmaker for her donated scrapbooks to the Marion Museum. The books cover the Bicentennial-Sesquicentennial years and have other articles pertaining to Marion, such as its people and school sports.

Pearl and Hank Ververs have returned from a recent vacation where they spent five days touring in Vermont.

Katy Shaff invites her friends to the third annual Buddy Walk, sponsored by the Flower City Down Syndrome network, on Sunday, October 3, at the North Ponds Park, Webster. Registration is at noon and the walk begins at 1 p.m. Ginny Ryan of Channel 13 news, will be the Grand Marshal and there will be a performance by the Dinner Dogs.

Here's an update Marion's Harvest Festival's participants. Wee Town USA on South Main, with the Graham Family as the new proud owners, will be open with their delightful flags, antiques and collectibles.

And a mention that all of our framing is done by Gary Wilson on Union Street. He does exceptional work and will be framing our latest Early Marion picture, as well as the copy we will be raffling at the Marion Museum.

The United Church will be offering their Sweets and Treats Booth on the front lawn.

OCTOBER 3, 1914: In order to make room for the new bank building it was necessary to remove the trees on the west-side of the lot. They had been there over 50 years. It always with a feeling of regret we watch a large tree felled.

The Marion High School Yearbook is sponsoring their Annual Chicken Barbecue during the October 8 Homecoming. Serving from 4 p.m. until sold out, the price is $6.50 and includes chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, roll, applesauce, cheese sampler and milk.

Also, the Yearbook Club will sponsor a Homecoming Dance on Friday, Oct. 8, starting after the last soccer game and continuing until 11:30 p.m.. The dance is open to all 7-12 grade academically eligible students.

The Marion Historic Association will be holding an extra meeting on Tuesday, October 5, at 7 p.m. in the Museum. There will be a finalizing of plans for the Oct. 16 festival.
