Pultneyville Cemetery Tour

They are waiting amid the flickering candles in the starry night ... waiting to tell their stories. They are the pioneers of the past, the spirits of a bygone era. Williamson Town Historian Chester Peters will lead groups of history-hunters to meet these spirits on the annual Pultneyville Historical Society Cemetery Tour on October 22 and 23 in the Lakeview Cemetery.

Peters will regale the group with tales of past glory, infamy and intrigue as he visits with personages from local history.

Tours will be held on both nights at 7 and 8 p.m. and anyone with an interest in local lore is invited to join in the evening's meander through the tombstones. Cider and doughnuts will be served after each walk. The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family, with children under 12 free.

Lakeview Cemetery, where burials began in the early 1800's, is located on West Lake Road, just west of the hamlet of Pultneyville. Come prepared with warm clothing, a reliable flashlight, a sense of curiosity ... and a touch of courage!
