Grassfire 500 in Red Creek this weekend

The Webster Ridge Runners Inc. snowmobile club announces the running of the Grassfire 500 Snowmobile Grass Drag Race and Snowmobile Show. This is the largest event of its kind in the Rochester-Syracuse area and signals the unofficial kickoff to the snowmobile season.

The event is scheduled for October 16 and 17 at Dates Sport Center in Red Creek. The race facility is located at Reitz Road and Wolcott Road and can be reached from NY Rt. 104 or NY Rt. 370.

On October 16, the gates open at 9 a.m. and racing begins at 2 p.m. October 17, gates open at 7 a.m. and racing begins at 11 a.m.

A complete Race Program is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The race is open to all trail-legal snowmobiles pending certain equipment requirements and restrictions. In response to race fan requests, the Webster Ridge Runners are bringing back the 'hot sleds' for the Sunday Program consisting of the PRO STOCK 1000 Qualifying and Shutout Event. With the addition of a new clay starting line surface, the competition should be faster and more exciting.

Snowmobile-related displays and demonstrations are a popular part of the show.

As in previous years, the Webster Ridge Runners will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Strong Children's Hospital in Rochester.

The Webster Ridge Runners cordially invite all racers and race fans to attend the 7th Annual 'Grassfire 500' Snowmobile Drags.
