WNNR radio goes country

WNNR-FM 103.5 will change its music format from Classic Rock to Country, beginning Monday.

WNNR President and General Manager John Tickner explained the decision as an attempt to keep up with the musical tastes of people in the Rochester market.

"Country music is the number one radio format in the U.S., with nearly one of every four stations playing country. Yet, there is just one country music station in Rochester. So, we feel there is a tremendous opportunity for us to provide an alternative for country music listeners in this area," said Tickner.

The new music mix will be geared toward fans of newer country artists, such as Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, John Michael Montgomery, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, and Vince Gill.

Sports programming, including NY Yankees baseball, Nascar Racing, and NFL football will continue on the station.

WNNR is the sister station to Newark's WACK - AM radio.
