NHS girls tennis

Heather DeMayThe Newark varsity girls tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to Wayne Central on September 10.

In first singles, Tara Petropulous defeated Heather DeMay (pictured) 6-2, 6-3. Second singles: Sarah Hobart defeated Heather Grahling 6-2, 6-2.

Third singles Cassie Wilson defeated Lynzee Salerno 4-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Newark won by default in the fourth singles.

In first doubles Kristen Yantch and Whitney Wright defeated Julie Martin and Miranda Clark 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. Second doubles Carissa Schroeder and Charlene Switzer defeated Audrey Welker and Ashley Domm 6-1, 6-2.

The team dropped to 1-3-1 on the year with a 6-0 loss to the Canandaigua Braves at Canandaigua.

In first singles, Jaymi Della over Heather DeMay 6-0, 6-1. Second singles Lexi Bond over Lynzee Salerno 6-0, 6-2. Third singles Mari Strait over Lynzee Salerno 6-0, 6-2. Fourth singles Veronika Vessela over Andrea Herbert 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

In first doubles Lauren Maltese and Michelle Vanas over Julie Martin and Miranda Clark 6-3, 6-3. Kristin Harter and Brett DeVinney over Charlen Switzer and Heather Jones 6-1, 6-1.
