'Fred' the bassett hound, owned by former Newark resident Bruce Douglas, has literally grown up in this 18 wheeler. Douglas was in Newark last week to attend a wedding, and 'Fred' was with him.

The sad-faced nine-year-old dog started traveling with his master when Fred was only eight weeks old. Douglas had breakfast every morning at the Newark Diner, while Fred waited patiently in the tractor for a leftover or two.
