AAL Lutherans news

Volunteers from Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) Branch 4415 in Newark worked to install siding on the Habitat for Humanity home in East Williamson on August 21.

Through their work equity, they earned a grant from AAL, a fraternal benevolent association based in Appleton, Wisconsin. The grant, which amounted to $800, helped to pay for the siding,

The AAL volunteers, all members of Redeemer Church in Newark, were Erna and Ray Seppeler, Dale and Bob Binggeli, Jackie and Lindy Kouwe, and Tom McDermott.

The Rev. Dr. Louis Jasper, a retired Lutheran pastor, started the workday with a prayerful devotion. The AAL volunteers worked in fellowship along side Habitat volunteers Irene and Pete Fadden, Mike McGinty, Bruce Wood, and the future owners of the home, Karen and Bill Christmann. It took slightly over seven hours to complete the siding of the house.

AAL Youth volunteers Christine and Gregory Seppeler, along with Kelsey and Kayla Binggeli, shopped for and served lunch to the workers. Many thanks to McDonald's, Wegmans, and Subway of Newark, for their donations to this effort. Barbara Seppeler was the adult adviser and provided transportation for the youth workers.

The youth of Redeemer Lutheran, through a Youth Serve grant from AAL, will purchase and plant shrubbery at the home later this fall.
