With my umbrella blowing inside out as I sat in the rain, watching the girls soccer game at the High School, I imagined glass-enclosed, heated bleachers.

There is a back-to-school special available until September 30. It is a FREE kid's cut (12 and under) with the purchase of one adult cut. Appointments advised; walk- ins by chance.

Belated 97th birthday wishes to Evelyn Goldsworthy on September 16. Her address is Highlands Living Center, 500 Hahnemann Trail, Pittsford 14534.

REMEMBER: The Marion Firemen's Auction on September 25. Bargains, food. SUPPORT YOUR MARION FIREMEN.

The WAY (Wayne Area Youth) will gather at the First Baptist Church in Macedon, on September 26, for worship service at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Bible study, led by Jim Niedermaier. They will have lunch at the church and then be off to the Amazing Maize Maze at Long Acres Farm. Cost is $5.50.

The Pig Roast at the United Church on September 25, beginning at 4:30 p.m. This is sponsored by the Mission Committee and proceeds will benefit the needy, both locally and throughout the world.

Rev. Robert Ondra from the Palmyra Reformed Church presented the message at the Second Reformed Church on September 19, while Pastor Donald White was at the Palmyra Church.

On September 19, Rally Day was celebrated at the United Church. After meeting teachers and visiting classrooms, crafts were enjoyed. At noon there was a family lunch featuring hot dogs and chips in the dining hall.

Women of the United Church held a family Potluck Supper on September 21. Following the dinner Deb Halstead, Melissa Wilson and Crystal Halstead shared their experiences at the Work Camp in Louisiana, where they worked together with church groups from around the country in making the lives of poor families better.

On September 23, Margaret Curtis celebrated her 94th birthday. She asked that friends and those at the United Church would spend the day directing their efforts to doing something to make someone's day more special!

I hear that Hazel McMullin collected a bunch of ribbons at the Golden Olympics. Congratulations Hazel!

Autumn - Delightful season that runs from the disposal of the last zucchini to the arrival of the first catalog.

Fran and Marge DeWind have moved to their new home at 184 Tupper Way in Manchester, NY at the Friendly Village.

Save OCTOBER 3, Sunday, for a Roast Beef Dinner at the Palmyra Masonic Temple, on Main Street. This dinner is sponsored by the Triple W, Order of the Eastern Star. Advanced tickets are $6, $7 at the door. Children 5-12 are $3.50.

SEPTEMBER 22, 1917: It has been affirmed that the Marion Railway will be in operation before October 1 of this year.
