Wayne County Habitat for Humanity is in immediate need of volunteers to assist with its 14th house being built in Newark on property donated by James Homburger. The agency is in need of volunteers to assist with:

- Photographer
- Building, planning, bid
- Historian process, material list

Habitat for Humanity was incorporated in March 1988. In those 12 years, Habitat has built 13 houses throughout Wayne County. Habitat for Humanity is funded entirely by private and business donations, with no assistance from any Government Agency.

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, Christian ministry. Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. Habitat for Humanity will hold the no-interest, no-profit mortgage and uses payments made on the mortgage to build other houses in Wayne County. Each house costs approximately $40,000.

Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County tithes 10 percent of funds raised and donates to Habitat International to build houses in developing countries. In this way, Habitat of Wayne County at least doubles the number of houses it builds, one in Wayne County and one overseas.

For information, or to donate funds or materials contact the office at 315.986.9915. To volunteer, contact Larry Herko at 315.597.2197 or email him at
