Congratulations to the following Youth Wrestlers who attended the Penn Yan Youth Wrestling Tournament on March 18: Peter Adriaansen, Matthew Mayville, Jon Bornheimer, Bryan Bushart, Nicole Dalberth, Ben Franke, Nicholas Mayville, Caley Gaziano, Cyle Gaziano, Joshua Mayville, Jacob Mousso, Stephen Richards, Colton Dalberth, Aaron Bornheimer and Luke Camp. Marion was among 20 schools and clubs in attendance. Out of 15 wrestlers, Marion had two-first-place winners, one second place, four thirds and one-fourth place. The annual celebration of Senior Citizens will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at NOON, with lunch at 12:30 in the cafeteria. Taranwould will be the home course for the new Marion High School golf team. The golf course is located on Hydesville Road, Arcadia. Welcome home to Rog and Gen Adriaansen. I hear they had a nice time during their Florida vacation. I do believe that there is still time to sign up for the Netherlands Canal Cruise. If you are looking for an Easter gift or something special for Mom on her day, how about a Marion historic coverlet? The American Red Cross is holding a BLOOD DRIVE on April 11 at the High School, 8:30 to 12:30. Walk-ins are welcome. FEBRUARY 11, 1911: Jacob Leroy, who has a blacksmith shop in the L. Smith building, was struck in the jaw by a horse he was shoeing on Monday, the shoe worn by the animal cutting a gash in his face to the bone. 'The reason volunteers aren't paid isn't because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.' APRIL FOOLISHNESS will be held on April 7 from 7:30-10 p.m. in the Education Building of the Second Reformed Church. This is for youth in grades 7-12. The 5th and 6th Grade Band Spring Concert will be April 13 at 7:30 p.m. Marion Elementary School. Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary Wishes to Dennis and Loretta Van Strien on April 8. NOTICE; the MARION MUSEUM was not named in the Museum listings in the Southwestern Wayne County Business Directory and Visitor's Guide published by the Community News. Now that our Grange Building is turning from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan, I'm envisioning the historic Presbyterian Church's evolvement into the Marion Museum!
(Editor's note: Carolyn is mounting efforts to save the historic church from destruction. Watch for more on this, including photos and the church's history.)
