Missing Sodus

This week's weather has been interesting to say the least. You're never really certain what your outdoor plans or (coats) are going to be. On Saturday, it was a great day to do some gardening, raking, cleaning out. I found that whatever you decide to do, you'd better do it quickly! Sunday we had ducks sitting on the top of our pool cover. A male duck sat in the water in the middle (perhaps he's a buggitarian - not many fish in those waters). They seemed to enjoy themselves until Caesar loudly told them to get out of his yard.
This Sunday (April 9) from 8 to noon, there will be another great Pancake Breakfast at the Wallington Fire Department. Bring your appetites - it's all-you-can-eat. (Sounds good. My stomach is growling just thinking about it.) The money raised from the breakfast will go toward the purchase of new fire fighting equipment. (Thanks, Fred. No cooking this Sunday morning.)
You didn't forget to enroll for the pre-school storytimes at the Williamson Library on Wednesdays mornings at l0:30, did you? This storytime is for children ages 3-5, just think of all the Springtime stories and crafts the children will participate in. For more information, call the library at 589.2048.
Tuesday, April 11, the Sodus Chamber of Commerce is having its Citizen of the Year Banquet at the Normandy Inn. Call 483.4067 for tickets.
Soon, Helen Phillips is planning to go to Charlotte, North Carolina to see her new granddaughter, who was born February 1. Her name is Jessica Elizabeth Anne Phillips. A very proud Gramma says the pictures she received of the baby are beautiful. You'll know Helen when you see her car traveling down Main Street in Sodus - she'll be the one with the huge helium balloons and teddy bears.
Pine Hill Orchards will be opening on April l5. To celebrate, Pine Hill Orchards will have an Open House with lots of great-tasting, homemade treats for your sweet tooth. Now, before you start thinking about sugar, first have breakfast at Pine Hill. Sounds like a great way to spend the day.
Don't forget: There will be a 25th class reunion for the Sodus Central Class of '75 on July 29, 2000 at the Normandy Inn. Classmates are requested to contact Ray Coloumbe or Dan Doyle.
The Williamson Library is busy this Spring (as always) for National Library Week. April 8 - l4, the theme is Kids Connect @ the Library. Beginner Internet classes for children, parents, grandparents and other caregivers will be held on April l0 at 7 p.m., as well as April 12 at 3 p.m. and April 14 at 3 p.m. Class size is limited, so registration is necessary. Each introductory class will be approximately 45 minutes. Also the library wants to encourage children to read all week long, so just for visiting the library, children have the opportunity to guess how many pieces of candy are on display. Winners will receive a treat and a chance at the Grand Prize! All children are welcome to come and color a circle to add to the Library Book Worm. The Library's goal is to see if the worm will be sooooooo large it'll wrap all around the library! Sounds fun; wish I was there. Let me know how long the worm (does he have a name yet?) gets.
Remember if you have fun events you'd like others to know about, please write to me at

Former Wayne County residents (like me) can keep in touch by reading the information you send.
Have a great week. Try to stay dry (and try to avoid those worms that are all over the sidewalks and driveways).
