Spare change drive in Lyons

The Lyons Public Library will hold a Spare Change Drive to help support its summer reading program.

Every summer the library sponsors a summer reading program in which 100-150 children participate. In addition to the reading program, programs are held daily such as craft programs, film showings, storyhours, guest performers, etc. with attendance at the programs between 500-800 people.

All of this programming costs money, with some coming from the library's budget as well as donations from the Friends of the Library, the Lyons Chamber of Commerce and various businesses and individuals. This year, to help offset the cost of the program, Lyons residents are being encouraged to drop off their spare change at the library.

All of the money will be used to purchase supplies for the different programs. There will be a can at the front desk to drop the spare change in, or it can be handed to a library staff member.

For more information call the library at 315.946.9262.
