Lyons Heritage Society to meet

Ed Polk Douglas of Lyons will present an illustrated lecture, 'Mediterranean Modern, the Anglo-Italianate Style in America, 1840-1865,' at the April 17 meeting of the Lyons Heritage Society.

Open to the public and free of charge, the event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Undercroft of Grace Episcopal Church, corner of Phelps St. and Lawrence St., Lyons.

Douglas is an historical consultant, author, and educator and, through selected examples of architecture, interior design, decorative arts, and monuments, he will discuss the European origins of the style, its distinguishing characteristics, and its popularity in the United States, including upstate New York.
