Holy Week at Lyons Presbyterian

The First Presbyterian Church in Lyons has the following schedule for this Holy Week:

The church will celebrate Maundy Thursday on April 20 with a Seder Meal at 6 p.m. The meal is free but reservations are required. Holy Communion will follow.

On Good Friday, April 21 there will be an ecumenical procession of the cross. Meet at the Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. and join the ecumenical procession. The procession will include stops at the United Methodist Church and Grace Episcopal Church and will end at St. John's Lutheran Church. At each stop, there will be a reading, a hymn and a prayer. Families are especially welcome. Dress for the weather.

There will also be a Good Friday Worship service of music and drama on April 21 at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled: At The Cross.

On Easter Sunday, April 23, there will be an ecumenical Sunrise Service at 6:15 a.m. at the Boss farm (2625 Bastian Road, Lyons) The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will lead this worship service. In case of horrible weather, please meet in the sanctuary of the Methodist church. The sunrise worship will be followed by breakfast at the Methodist Church at 93 William Street.

There will also be an Easter worship service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the Resurrection! The Angel Choir will sing. Pastor Cynthia will preach on From Grief to Joy. Zaida Park will be ordained and installed as an Elder. The choir is planning special music and we will sing the Hallelujah Chorus.

The church is located at the corner of Queen and Broad in Lyons. It is handicapped accessible. For additional information, please call 946.4723.
