County briefs
By Donna Comella
The Wayne County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday to attend to monthly business. The agenda included:
-
Authorization for Sheriff Richard Pisciotti to apply for a Federal Cops More grant, which would reimburse the county for three years to increase road patrol deputies from 23 to 27.
-
Awarding a bid to Crystal Pix of Fairport to prepare an educational video at a cost of $9,992.50. The video will be used by the Planning Dept., so local villages and towns can learn how to revitalize their communities. It will be available to those who are unable to attend the conference planned for May 15-16.
-
Approval of a $51,400 contribution to the Village of Palmyra for its Marina Project. The total cost of the project is over $620,000 and includes parking, sidewalks, landscaping, etc., to attract boaters and other tourists.
-
Authorization for a parcel of land to be sold to the Town of Sodus for unpaid taxes of $888.39. The Town intends to transfer the property to the Williamson-Sodus Airport for the same amount. Palmyra Supervisor Dave Lyon called the move a 'dangerous precedent' and voted against the move. Also voting no was Macedon Supervisor William Eddy.
-
Authorization to install a Panic Alarm System at the old Courthouse. The wireless security system will cost just over $3,000.
