Lisa Stringer & Holly Perry Newark student wins national award
By John Zornow

An x-ray drawing by Holly Perry, a student at the Newark Middle School, was recognized as a Silver award winner at the National Scholastic Art Awards in New York City. Perry's Australian aboriginal drawing went on to the national competition after receiving a Gold Key Award at RIT.

The work is also featured in the spring edition of Ripples Magazine which is distributed in the BOCES district.

Lisa Stringer, art instructor at the Newark Middle School, is pictured with Holly.

Stringer credits Perry's 'honest expression of the world being brought closer together as one of the reasons that judges singled it out for the awards.' Stringer added that this is the first time that an Newark has ever won an award of this scope at the national level.

Holly is the daughter of Jim and Christine Perry.
