Mini Triathlon at Sodus Point

Sodus Point Community Center will hold a mini triathlon for kids ages 6 to 12 on Sunday, August 6 at 9:30 in the Sodus Point Beach Park.

The goal of the event is to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle in a family event, while serving as a small fundraiser.

Two different courses will be mapped out. Kids may choose to swim or wade in Sodus Bay, dry off, hop on their bike, (helmets required,) and travel a mile course through the village (staff escorts provided), returning to the beach area for a stroll or run to the finish line.

'This is not a race, but a participation event,' explained event coordinator Joan Zerbebrandt. 'Every finisher is a winner and receives a medal for his or her accomplishment.

A continental breakfast of bagels, donuts, fresh fruit and beverages provided by Newark Wegmans Food Market and Freihofer's Bakery Outlet will be available immediately following the event.

Registration cost is $ 5 per child. This event is limited to 70 participants. All kids registered will receive a complimentary coupon package from sponsoring area vendors.

Registration forms can be obtained at SPCC or found attached to posters throughout the county. Pre-registration can be done by calling the center at 483.9828
