children of eden Children of Eden takes stage in PennYan

Seven young Newark actors have been hard at work on the Pennsylvania Yankee Theatre Company's production of Children of Eden. Their work will be on display August 4-6, as they perform the critically acclaimed Steven Schwartz musical at Penn Yan Academy, tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Newark High School seniors Dick Austin, Andrew Boeckmann, Jason Holder, and Elliot Iocco, all veterans of the High School stage, have leading roles in the production.

Newark High alumnae Sarah Bald, Emily Howard ands Sara Skinner play leading female roles. The Newark actors are pictured.

Other cast members come from surrounding towns such as Phelps, Lyons and Penn Yan.

The director of the show is Steven Michael Duprey, who directed Newark's Elenbe-winning performance of Comedy of Errors last fall, as well as many other Newark High School productions.

Children of Eden is a brilliant piece of musical theater from the creator of many famous Broadway shows such as Pippin and Godspell. Eden is a colorful, musical journey through the first nine chapters of the bible that illustrates the story of Adam and Eve in the first act and Noah in the second. More importantly, the show depicts the relationship between a father and a son, which anyone can relate to.

Come support our local thespians this weekend at the Penn Yan Academy. Tickets range from $6 to $8 and can be purchased by contacting Jason Holder at 331.7594, or they can be purchased at the door.
