Dairy Royalty selected for Wayne County
Gansz, 17, of Lyons was crowned the 2000-01 Wayne County Dairy Princess. Gansz received the crown from her predecessor Cairy Norman, who is now serving the dairy industry as New York State Alternate Dairy Princess. Also serving Wayne County this year is Maryanna Boerman of Marion, who is acting Dairy Ambassador. Gansz has grown up in Alloway on Toganenwood Farm and started in the Wayne County 4-H program six years ago. She first started showing Holsteins leased from Maple Lawn Farms four years ago. She has always enjoyed the dairy farm and Holstein showing experiences. She was honored by winning Super Showmanship at the 1999 Wayne County Fair. Gansz is a senior at the Lyons Jr./Sr. High School and is president of the Honor Society, class president, and is a high honor roll student. She has also held officer positions in band chorus, 4-H and student council and has delighted many an audience with her singing and musical endeavors. She has been presenting school programs, hosting the 'Got Milk?' dairy promotion at the Wayne County Fair, attending farm meetings and Empire Farm Days, and media interviews all promoting milk, dairy products and the dairy industry.
