ECCC exhibits & coming events

Saturday exhibition hours at the Erie Canal Cultural Center are 1-5 p.m. in August; Wednesday and Fridays will continue to be from 1-6 p.m.

Current exhibitions include:

Columns & Corners, photographs of historic architecture along the towpath taken by students of the Clyde-Savannah, Lyons and Newark Central School Districts and community members;

Wild Flowers, photographs of regional wild flowers taken by Mark DeCracker of Lyons;

the Wayne County Council for the Arts' permanent collection, early works by Phyllis Graff, Lyons resident;

and travel photographs of the American West by Liz Barefoot of Churchville.

The Center is also host to the only display of Erie Canal projects along the entire Wayne County portion of the Canal. During this summer, visitors from all over the world and the United States have stopped at the ECCC.

In September the Center is one of the highlighted sites during the World Canal Conference.

The Center will be changing exhibitions the second week in October, following its second annual HarvestFest on October 7. All interested craftpeople, artists and collectors who wish to show and sell their wares should contact the Center for an application to reserve a space. Spaces will be $20 for a 10 x 10 spot. Reservations will be accepted until September 23.

The Erie Canal Cultural Center is located at 165 Water Street in Lyons. The facility is located right on the Canal in the historic Hammett Building and on the grounds of the former Bashford Vinegar Works. If arriving via Route 31, turn north on Route 14 and then west on Water Street. If coming to Wayne County via Route 104, take either Route 88 south to Route 31 in Newark and then head east to Route 14, or take Route 14 in Sodus south to Lyons and then west on Water Street.

For further information, or to request a HarvestFest reservation form, contact Peg Churchill, director, at 946.0360, by fax at 946.0368 or Dhpeg@aol.com
